#CreateDangerously

Be Bold, Live proud, Create Dangerously

#CreateDangerously is a growing group of dancers and performers focused on sharing personal stories about our bodies and the things that manifest in them: mental health, physical health, sexuality, identity, traumas, and more. We work within the broad realms of dance, physical theatre, and performance art. We are directors, choreographers, stunt coordinators, dancers, actors, performers, educators and activists.

Within our collective there are queer, trans, mad, female identifying, body diverse and/or emerging artists of various ages. It is important for us to work with these communities (and beyond) and share personal stories from and with the people that actively had or are currently experiencing them. Broadly speaking, any production we mount will be grounded in lived experience.

Our members find that too often these minorities and stories that aren't explicitly commercial are considered "risks," so we opt to #CreateDangerously

DEAR ANNA

Current Project

Dear Anna is a physical theatre piece that comes from the personal story of Meek's darkest days struggling with an undiagnosed eating disorder..

An unafraid and viscerally raw performance with high-contrast depictions between the perceived glamour of diet culture and the stripped back reality. Dear Anna showcases a brutal truth and intimacy as it moves through topics and themes such as love, loss, longing, delusions of grandeur, addictions, desperation, abandonment, surrender, and society's part in it.

WE ARE ESPECIALLY INTERESTED IN HOSTING SPACE AND A PLATFORM OF STORYTELLING TO THOSE WE SEEK TO ELEVATE: QUEER, TRANS, FEMALE IDENTIFYING, MAD AND BODY DIVERSE COMMUNITIES.
