Calling All Dancers & Movement Artists

Do you live in Toronto, have access to travel (public transit is fine), and enjoy moving your body with other people?

Under the banner of CreateDangerously, Meek is looking to re-acquaint himself with Toronto's nooks, crannies, and parks through movement this summer and is inviting others to join in. Further, we are looking for someone to take video and photographic documentation. No equipment is necessary as a smartphone and tripod will be provided.

This project is volunteer based so please apply only if time, energy, and passion allows. If it goes well, we may look for funding in the future.

General Information

As a collaborative project, those selected will pool in their favourite parks, alleyways, and trails to create a fun and easily accessible list of where to explore. Each session will be approximately one hour with a small check in at the beginning, a warm-up to get our bodies moving, about 30 minutes of free movement and a check-out at the end.

COVID Precautions

In compliance with the new outdoor gathering restrictions, a maximum of four other people will be permitted to dance at any given time. If enough interest rises, schedules with rotating artists will be available.

To ensure everyone's safety, the proper wearing of masks will be required at all times as well as information for contact tracing and day of screening.

Rough Schedule

This is just a rough schedule and may change depending on people's availabilities.

June 1 - June 12: Gather Interest and participants

Week of June 13 - June 19th: Arrange Zoom meeting for participants to meet & discuss places of interest

July 1st - September 1st: Dancing! Most likely to take place Saturday afternoons or evenings (between 3pm - 7pm) but these will be decided at the meeting.

To be considered, please email helloitsmeek@gmail.com with name and a statement of interest (this does not need to be lengthy).
