Nicole Decsey
Choreographer & Co-Director
Nicole Decsey is a performer, choreographer, director and arts critic based out of Mississauga and Toronto. Her movement training began at a young age and continued through the performance dance program at X University. Her training as an arts critic began with The Dance Current Magazine and continued with the Emerging Arts Critics Program led by The National Ballet, The Canadian Opera Company, Soulpepper Theatre and Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Throughout her career Nicole has created videos and live performances for her company Nicole Decsey Dance Projects and has performed in multiple festivals and venues throughout the GTA.
Passionate about using movement to tell personal and real stories, Nicole strives to make her art accessible to everyone. Her work addresses issues she has experienced with her IBD over the last four years since her diagnosis and the isolation she has sometimes felt amongst her peers. Nicole is committed to supporting projects that break the stereotypes of the traditional and accepted dancer body. Her most recent works include Diagnosis, Denial, Acceptance a solo work performed at Long Winter Festival and Normal People performed at the Window of Opportunity Festival.
